A Moment With

On a Monday you can find me soaking up the joys of Manly in Sydney with my son. Since becoming a parent I have learned the importance of slowing down and living in

the moment on a completely different level. A good coffee, a walk along the water, and a play in the sand are usually on the cards. When I’m off “Mum” duty, I’m reading

the latest in climate and sustainability news, preparing lectures for my students at Sydney Uni and writing.

I’m inspired by the creative activism from people from all walks of life, especially young people. I’m also endlessly inspired the beauty and awe of our natural world.

I’ve had the privilege to travel to many beautiful places, and can’t think of a more important job than keeping this stunning planet healthy for generations to come.

My purpose is to share my knowledge on sustainability and activism to propel the climate and other environmental movements forward.

I’m currently reading so many books! I read novels at night before I go to sleep, I’ve just finished “Boy Swallows Universe” by Trent Dalton and “The Gap of Time” by

Jeanette Winterson. I also have Lucy Siegle’s “Turning the Tide on Plastic” and Naomi Klein’s “This Changes Everything” on my bedside table, along with Juliet Schor’s “Plenitude” and “Thinking, Fast and Slow” by Daniel Kahneman (an academic’s reading list is always endless! So many on my wish list).

I look up to too many people to list! I have a number of professional mentors from both academia and industry/activism, I am excited about some emerging political figures taking bold climate action (like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), but I’m most inspired by everyday Australians (and Americans! I’m a dual citizen) who are just getting on with the business of environmentalism in their daily lives, pushing toward progress in seemingly minor but important ways.

Connect with me if you need a writer, facilitator or educator to discuss everyday environmentalism and/or sustainable fashion.
